Latest developments from TAW Tirana Architecture Weeks
1. The organizing team of TAW Tirana Architecture Week had a working meeting with the Mayor of Tirana Mr. Lulzim Basha, discussing the progress of preparation phase so as to best respond to the increase of interest on such event that intends to put Tirana in the international map of cultural events. So far TAW website has recorded 160,000 clicking worldwide, and the number of applications and registrations in different events such as conferences, competitions, workshops, etc, is increasing enormously, every day.
2. Several foreign embassies in Tirana expressed their interest on TAW and its events during September- October 2012. Dutch, Austrian, Swiss, Italian & German Embassies expressed their interest and support on POLIS and TAW specifically. They visited recently the POLIS University and met with organizing team. Respective Ambassadors assured their support to coordinate several other initiatives with TAW events, including:
- TAW and “German October” Annual Festival will coordinate activities together and have a joint public relation plan, as the Festival’ theme of this year also focuses on issues of Creativity, Society and City!
- Swiss Embassy will make possible in Tirana during TAW weeks an exhibition of internationally most successful Swiss architects: Peter Zumthor, Herzog & de Meuron, and Diener & Diener. The exhibition is the main international exchange project of this year for Swiss Government, circulating worldwide.
- Under such perspective POLIS is working with NAf Netherlands Architecture Fund for a joint project with NAI Netherlands Architecture Institute to mutually transfer the Dutch & Balkan experiences on architecture and city planning area during TAW weeks.
- TAW and the Italian Institute of Culture will also join / cooperate their events including the promotion of the new publications and exhibitions on architectural exchanges among two countries.
3. Alongside with U_POLIS and Tirana Municipality many academic, professional and business institutions showed their interest in supporting financially or partnering with TAW, which in return is discussing the concrete forms of cooperation, including:
- German October, Italian Institute of Culture, AUA Union of Architects, Klan-TV, SCP, CEZ, ECF, BKT, Megatek, Co-PLAN Institute for Habitat Development, Metro_POLIS studio, Forum A+P Journal, MAD Art Center & Magazine, and many diplomatic institutions mentioned above…
4. TAW and KLAN TV agreed to cooperate together to better inform general public on the preparations stages, different events and outcomes of TAW. Two tv-advertisements are designed by the POLIS art-design school and will be very soon tv-broadcasted on air. You can see them at addresses below:
